周向林1955年出生于中国湖北省武汉市，目前工作居住于武汉。周向林1983年毕业于湖北艺术学院油画专业；1978年进入中央美术学院宾卡斯西方传统绘画材料技法班；1989年至1991年为中央美术学院油画创作研修班；2003至2004年为法国布尔日国立高等美术学院访问学者。周向林为二级教授、博士生导师、湖北美术学院原副院长；中国美术家协会会员，湖北省美协油画艺术委员会主任。获国务院政府特殊津贴；湖北省有突出贡献中青年专家；湖北省优秀教师。
周向林曾在法国、新加坡、台北、北京等地举办个展。多幅作品被中国美术馆、湖北美术馆、香港大学美术博物馆、汉雅轩有限公司、今日美术馆、合美术馆、湖北省美术院等艺术机构和中国、美国、加拿大、法国、意大利、比利时、日本、韩国、台湾等国家和地区私人收藏。
周向林主要代表作品为《1969年11月12日·开封》、《红色机器》等。他曾获首届中国壁画大展大奖；91’中国油画年展银奖；1976-2005新时期中国油画优秀作品奖；全国第八届铜版、石版、丝网版画展铜奖；廖修平奖；第二届屈原文艺创作奖（湖北省最高文艺奖）等。
Xianglin Zhou was born in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in 1955 and currently lives and works in Wuhan. Zhou Xianglin entered the program of Pincas Western Traditional Painting Materials and Skills, Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1978; graduated from the Oil Painting Program of Hubei Vocational College of Art in 1983; studied in the Oil Painting Seminar of Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1989 to 1991; was a visiting scholar in Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 2003 to 2004.
Zhou Xianglin is the Professor of Second Grade, doctoral Supervisor and former Vice President of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts. He is the member of China Artists Association and the director of Oil Painting Art Committee of Hubei Artists Association and received the government special allowance of the State Council.
Zhou Xianglin has held solo exhibitions in France, Singapore, Taipei and Beijing. Many of his works have been collected by art institutions such as National Art Museum of China, Hubei Art Museum, University Museum and Art Gallery, Hong Kong, Hanarthen Limited, Today Art Museum, United Art Museum, Hubei Academy of Fine Arts and private collections in China, the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Belgium, Japan Korea, Taiwan and other countries and regions.
November 12, 1969 – Kaifeng and Red Machine – One are Zhou Xianglin’s main representative works. He was awarded the Grand Prize of The First National Fresco Exhibition, the Silver Award of 91 Chinese Oil Painting Annual Exhibition, the Excellent Award of History of River-The Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition in New Era, Artistic Department, the Bronze Award of The 8th National Exhibition for Copperplate, Stone Plate and Silk Screen Plate Print and Awarded Works, the Liao Hsiu-Ping Award, the Hubei Province's Highest Literary and Artistic Award: the Second Qu Yuan Literary and Artistic Creation Award, and more.
